Old George Coffee House

The client

Old George Coffee House is an independent shop in Barnsley town centre which was opened by Gareth and Andrew in 2017. It fast became the town’s best loved coffee venue with a devoted following.

I spoke to Gareth when the doors first opened and their brand was a work in progress, but it was clear that they had a vision of something very stylish, on-trend and yet timeless.

Since we started working together they have successfully opened two more venues - at the Town Hall in Barnsley and Old George Heritage in Huddersfield, which share the branding, with a tweaked version of the original logo.

What we did

I created a circular ‘badge’ design containing a coffee cup stain frame and text which was inspired by the printing on coffee bean sacks. Another version of this logo was then constructed to fit the landscape dimensions of the external shop signage.

I have also provided them with different advertising solutions including posters utilising quotes from Trip Advisor for their A-frame on-street signs, shown here.

Since then I've created all sorts - including menus, QR code displays and takeaway coffee cups which enhance the Old George Coffee House experience and bring a smile to customers' faces!
