Why I’m so over Twitter

It’s good to periodically review your marketing by looking at what you do and how you do it. This ensures that things are working as hard as possible – so you don’t have to!

I’ve been monitoring my social media and noting which platforms get the most interaction and which create the most leads for me. I have realised that I can streamline things to alleviate my marketing workload. I want to work smarter – not harder.

I have had accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter since I started the business in 2013. I added Instagram into the mix more recently.

Over the years I’ve learned more about my ideal clients: people I enjoy working with, who enjoy working with me and who are happy to invest in their businesses. I am more focused and only aim to appeal to those people.

When you know who your ideal client is you know exactly who you’re talking to and it makes marketing simple – plus it’s quicker and more effective!

You could work all hours marketing with a scattergun approach – chasing random prospects who complain and quibble about your prices. But where is the fun in that? Nope, there isn’t any!

To cut a long story short – I have realised that the people I was interacting with on Twitter weren’t my ideal clients, so I’m going to be deleting my Twitter account shortly.

I must admit I have mixed feelings about it. It’s been part of the business for so long that I feel strangely guilty to remove it. But at the same time the thought of not having to write meaningful posts in a maximum of 280 characters is very liberating!

Without Twitter on my to do list I will have more time to put into the other platforms and give my target audience better content.

I firmly believe that the best marketing strategy is one that works for you – it fits into the time you have available, is within your budget, it makes you feel good… and it gets you the right clients.

It doesn’t need to be stressful.

This is when you know that you have found your sweet spot and your strategy is in alignment with both your life and your business.
