We all want to create content that people want to read and engage with so that they will buy from us.
It’s all about planning out your content in advance, knowing your audience, talking about things that they care about and including calls to action so they know what steps to take to make a purchase.
In theory it’s very simple, but it can feel so complicated!
What happens if you write all of this amazing stuff, but your image doesn’t hit the spot for your potential customers?
Potential customers are less likely to take you as seriously as other businesses that have everything consistent and tied up with an on-brand coloured bow. They might expect you to be cheaper and question the quality of your service in comparison. You will have to try harder to get them to trust you and it will take more effort to make a sale.
Three key things to brand consistency:
1. Tone of voice
Do you talk in a laid back, direct, jovial or serious way? Mixing these tones up can be very confusing for your followers, so stick to one!
2. Visual branding
If you use the same colours, fonts and styling on your images, graphics and videos then over time your followers will get used to it and recognise that it’s you – without even seeing your logo or your name!
It’s a good idea to create templates for posts that you regularly use – for example if you’ve got a new product or a sale on – then you can just update the text on that graphic and it’s good to go. It’s also beneficial to add your logo on your images. This helps to link back to your page if somebody shares your content without a link to where it came from.
3. Stay relevant to the people that patter
Only share things that are your ideal customers are interested in. This will make sure that you’re attracting the right type of people and creating better relationships with them.
I know that this stuff isn’t as simple as it sounds when you’re working on your own business. Sometimes it’s like you can’t see the wood for the trees, isn’t it?
That’s why I offer online presence visual branding reviews!
I will look at your socials (and your website too, if you like) and talk you through what changes would help you to make a great impression when potential customers find you online. I record a video per platform especially for you to keep so you can watch them at a time that works for you.
